Though many equate the story of Noah with a cute little boat full of animals, or a sweet children’s bedtime reading, I wish to present another aspect of the story and introduce to you a few thoughts to ponder. To do this let us begin by drawing a parallel between Noah and Lot which I believe will establish key, timeless points.
SIMILARITIES:
Each biblical scenario:
Describes a time of great evil (Gen 6:5, Gen 18:20)
Involves a visitation of The Lord (Gen 6:13, Gen 19:1)
Establishes and/or executes a promise/covenant given by Jehovah God (Gen 6:18, Gen 18:32)
Each uncovers timeless Facets of The Father’s Character.
In saying
this, let it be understood that the day of visitation from The Lord God
for some will be a day of great relief and jubilation, and to
other’s a day of indescribable sorrow.
ASPECTS OF JEHOVAH GOD’S TIMELESS CHARACTER
No. 1: God is a God of justice , and evil does not escape His sight and will be judged.
NOAH
Genesis 6:5-13,
"5 Then the LORD saw that the
wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the
thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the LORD was
sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His
heart. 7 So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have
created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing
and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD."
LOT
Genesis 18:20-21
20 And the LORD said, “Because
the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin
is very grave, 21 I will go down now and see whether they have done
altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and
if not, I will know.”
No. 2: The Lord God establishes His Covenants and upholds His Promises.
NOAH
Genesis 8:1
“Then God remembered Noah, and
every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark.
And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters
subsided.”
Genesis 9:1-2 God’s Promise established
"So God blessed Noah and his sons, and
said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth 2 And
the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the
earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on
all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand. "
LOT
Genesis 19:29 (God’s Promise to Abram )
"29 And it came to pass, when God
destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and
sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the
cities in which Lot had dwelt.
No. 3: That Great God Jehovah is a God of Suddenly and this day will either be a day of deliverance or a day of destruction.
As people
were eating and drinking, sneering and mocking, little did they know
that with each wrap of the mallet, and every plank laid, and with each
step that God’s Holy Angels made, the day of destruction drew
nearer and nearer.
JESUS
Luke 17:26-30
"26 And as it was in the days of
Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate,
they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the
day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them
all. 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they
drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the
day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven
and destroyed them all. 30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son
of Man is revealed.”
Followers
of Christ today are faced with many tests, trials, and
tribulations. We live in a day where The Name of Jesus
isn‘t spoken, and The very mention of The Name of God is
challenged in the classroom, the boardroom, the schoolyard, the
courthouse, the monetary systems, the Capital, and on and on.
Beloved, let us find comfort in the knowing that this perverted justice
and unrighteous posture does not escape the Eyes of The Lord. We
are promised that The Lord God Himself with shelter us. Psalm 37:17, “For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, But the LORD upholds the righteous.”
David tells us in Psalm 37:25, “I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread”
Children of God never walk alone. When Jesus ascended on high He gave us in return The Holy Spirit. So let us call upon The Holy One to convey our prayers to The Father. The Holy Spirit is your Shield, wear Him. The
Holy Spirit is your Counselor, consult with Him. The Holy Spirit
is your Comforter, let Him comfort you in times of sorrow. Call
upon The Holy Spirit daily to strengthen you, to re-ignite the passion
within you, to restore and re-activate your purpose and direction,
and never forget that your momentary trials are achieving for you an
eternal glory that far outweighs it all!
"For our light affliction, which is
but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal
weight of glory” 2 Corinthians 4:17.
Genesis 9:13-17
"13 I set My rainbow in the cloud, and
it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. 14
It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow
shall be seen in the cloud; 15 and I will remember My covenant which is
between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters
shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 The rainbow
shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the
everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh
that is on the earth.” 17 And God said to Noah, “This is
the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all
flesh that is on the earth.”
Beloved,
each one of us has a promise yet to be realized, a dream yet to dream,
a song yet to sing, and a dance yet to be danced. Let us embrace each
day with the knowledge that all things have a season. Your ministry and calling is a workmanship continuous, as are you In Christ Jesus. Ephesians
2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for
good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in
them.”
In concluding today let me say this:
The day of
your visitation will most assuredly come. You will either be
greatly overjoyed that you chose to stand, or you will find yourself in
unquenchable grief that you grew faint when all you had to do was to
call out to the same Jehovah God that delivered Noah and Lot.
Beloved, stand tall and you will see that “as swiftly as the Eagle flies, the time will come for you to soar.”
In the mean time, prepare, make plain, and be satisfied with your
purpose (not someone else’s). Focus on your work, and see it come
to harvest as it surely will..
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap If we do not lose heart” Galatians 6:9
HERE'S THE NUGGET: Suddenly
comes and it will arrive unexpectedly. Prepare by enjoying now,
and not somewhere in tomorrow’s possibilities. Do your time
in the Garden of life for the JOY of it - It was created just for you!
| LET US PRAY: Father we pray that as these truths have been revealed
today, Your people will find encouragement from the servants of old.
Holy Spirit, ignite lost passions and renew forgotten dreams. In The
Name Above all names, Yeshua. Amen. |
Until next time,
keep your eyes on the prize.
Love, Destiny.
